WORKSHOPS (1 day except where indicated) “Design “ - design a floral block (aimed at the faint hearted)
“Hawaiian Appliqué and Quilting” - hand work using ‘needle turning’ technique
“Hand Appliqué” - ‘appliqué from the back’ ! Template free – folk style using my
own personal technique used in my own quilts
“Hand Appliqué” - (2 days) Advanced level- work an “ORIENTAL LADY” and
design an appropriate background
“Baltimore Appliqué” - 3 dimensional Hand Appliqué in traditional style worked
together with my own personal method of appliqué
“Dye for a Day” - the use of Cold Water fibre re-active Procien Dyes. Go home with no less - and almost
certainly more - than 20 fat quarters of dyed fabric! Methods and various techniques covered - great fun!
(Appropriate venue requires access to water and washable tables and floors as a precaution)
“Stretch a Quilt Day” - instruction on stretching a Quilt Top in preparation for quilting, using a full size
frame created from battens which I will supply as well as all the other essential apparatus. Students need a
Quilt Top, sufficient wadding and backing fabric for same and thimbles. A minimum of 8 people as well as
‘Needle threaders’ are required! The more people the quicker the job. 2 quilts can be stretched in a day.
Once you have seen a quilt prepared for quilting in this manner, you will not be satisfied with any other
method. A good fun day!
“Seminole” Machine sewing fabric strips which are cut & re-sewn to create geometric patterns
“Sew Sea” “Free & Easy” machine workshop. Machine freely on a foundation & create a “Sea-scape”
design with the addition of embroidery threads.
“Carmel Bay” - Seascape Workshop (2 - 4 days)
“Seascape” - learn how to build up a seascape design with strip piecing (Design provided) on
which appliqué and decorative stitching can be added.(2 days recommended as only the background will
be achieved in 1 day)
“Landscape” ( 2 days) – design provided. Strip piece, appliqué and quilt a more complicated design to create
a landscape quilt and ultimately learn to create your own designs
“Convolvulus Spray” (1 or 2 days) - Wallhanging Workshop
“ Land/Sea!!Students Own Designs!!” (4 days) This workshop is only for students who have worked the
Beginners Landscape or Seascape workshop in a previous workshop and in doing so have learnt the design
and construction techniques. We will then work with the students’ own individual designs!!
“Machine Quilting” - Transfer designs – use Walking Foot – Darning Foot – practice all quilting techniques
on samples and gain sufficient confidence and knowledge to use these techniques in your own work
“Sing for your Supper”- Quilt workshop - The background of the Quilt is worked on a foundation whilst the song thrush is worked by hand. The workshop can be taught over a one or two day period.
“Wild Poppies” (2 days) - Strip Pieced Background with addition of Mitred Border, Hand or Machine Appliqué, Machine or Hand Quilted
“Zagori” Wallhanging.
Hand Appliqué “Autumn Oriental Maiden”- work a miniature 12” x 8” or A3 sized design using Patricia’s preferred method of Hand Appliqué
Hand Appliqué “Clowns” - 2 designs giving a choice for working at the workshop. Instruction given on completing both designs.
“Design” - aimed at the faint hearted
NOTE Groups taking the Land/Sea Scape Workshops sometimes find it preferable to have the first day’s
teaching followed by the second day approximately 4 weeks later. This enables the students to work all aspects
over a longer period and achieve far more !
(The workshops include instruction on design-strip piecing-printing-painting and machine quilting)
