Hello,
I am Patricia McLaughlin Quilt Artist and Teacher.
I was introduced to patchwork and quilting in 1991 and it rapidly became a passion. My enjoyment was enhanced by sharing my newly discovered skills with fellow quilters. To enable me to develop and communicate my skills in a professional manner, I acquired a City and Guilds Certificate in Art and Design and also qualified as a teacher.
I then designed and delivered courses to adults in 3 colleges in patchwork and quilting at Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced levels; and also taught City and Guilds Art and Design. Now I work solely freelance. I have given workshops and lectures in the United States, Morocco, France, Spain and Germany as well as in the UK and in South Africa in 2008. My quilts have been exhibited in the United States, France, Holland, Ireland and Australia in addition to the major UK Exhibitions. I have written several articles for Patchwork & Quilting magazines and publish my own books and patterns.
Numerous quilts have shared 27 various Awards including 1st Prize for Hand Appliqué in the National Patchwork Championships Olympia (“Cissa Ceastre – Chichester” Quilt), 1st Prize Hever Castle Exhibition (“Blue Iris” Quilt), 1st Prize International Challenge Bunbury Quilters Western Australia (“Star Maiden” Quilt), Visitors’ Choice Hever Castle Exhibition 2004 (“Brave Men’s Blood” South Africa Quilt); and at “Quilts UK” Malvern 2005 1st Prizes for Hand Appliqué and Fabric Painting and 2nd Prize for Large Wallhanging (“Brave Men’s Blood” South Africa Quilt) and at Great Northern Quilt Show Harrogate 2005 1st Prize Hand Appliqué and 2nd Prize Large Wallhangings; and at Scottish Quilt Championships Edinburgh 2005 1st Prize Large Wallhangings, 1st Prize Fabric Painting and Judge’s Choice. “Almedia’s Star” awarded 2nd Prize “Use of Colour” at Festival of Quilts, NEC, Birmingham August 2007; and 1st Prize Hand Appliqué and “Visitors’ Choice at Great Northern Quilt Festival, Harrogate 2007. “Hawk in the Grey Morning” awarded 1st Prize Professional Category in the Poetry and Stitches Competition run by National Needlework Archive, Southampton and exhibited in Norwich, Exeter, Cardiff, London and Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

My specialties are:
