“Healing Quilts in Medicine” Project
This quilt - “Judy’s Wish” - is my donation to the Healing Quilts Project. This project entailed a selected group of quilters each making a quilt to hang in the oncology unit of the Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Virginia USA. The aim was to provide the cancer patients with something beautiful for them to enjoy whilst awaiting treatment in otherwise austere surroundings. The criteria was to include in the work plants used in the treatment of cancer.
The wallhanging is named after my friend Judy House who devised the project and was herself a patient at the Center. Sadly Judy died on 28th July 2005 after a courageous battle against breast cancer.
