Patricia in her studio working on her latest Quilt “Almedia’s Star” which was exhibited in at the Festival of Quilts, NEC, Birmingham in August 2007.
The Quilt was awarded 2nd Prize in the special category “ Use of Colour” from over 1400 Quilts exhibited.
The Quilt was then exhibited at the Great Northern Quilt Festival Harrogate in September 2007.
The Quilt was awarded 1st Prize for Hand Appliqué and also received the prestigious “Visitors’ Choice” award.
Designed by Patricia and worked over a period of 18 months. The Quilt measures W70” x H80”. The hand appliqué was worked using Patricia’s preferred method of needle turning and mounted on a background of an 8 pointed star.
All fabrics used in the Quilt were hand dyed and painted by Patricia. Machine quilted on a domestic sewing machine.
The Quilt’s title was inspired by a book gifted to Patricia by a fellow quilter in the USA called Almedia Cotter to whom Patricia dedicates the Quilt.
